Stockton Heath Festival is proud to announce that Tim Firth, the prolific and acclaimed stage, screen, TV and radio writer is the new Festival patron.
Tim whose work caters for all ages is most famous for Calendar Girls, one of the most successful British films of all time. It has also just been announced that the play of Calendar Girls has become the most successful tour of a play and money raised has funded an entire new research project for leukaemia.
Tudor Pole, one of the Festival founders and Coordinating Director said ‘We are delighted to have someone of Tims standing as our patron. It is especially appropriate as he is a local boy that grew up here and still has strong links with the area. We believe that his early work started as a pupil at Bridgewater High School where he channelled a lot of energy into song writing.’
Tim said ‘this is the kind of event I wish my home town had organised when I was growing up. In my lifetime Stockton Heath has changed beyond all recognition and has a new energy of which the festival is vibrant proof’.
