2018 Festival Competitions

The Scarecrows are returning!

The standard of the scarecrow competition in 2017 was very high so it is hoped that the 2018 Disney theme will encourage the same level of creativity once again. You’ll be able to see the scarecrows from 25th June before the Festival and they’ll be taken to the Festival Field on the 6th July for the Festival weekend.

Need inspiration?

Disney has created many much-loved animated characters Mickey and Minnie Mouse and Snow White, The Little Mermaid, Finding Nemo, and Beauty and the Beast. There’s plenty of other inspiration from classics such as The Jungle Book, Lion King, right up to Frozen and Moana.

Here are more Disney characters to get you started.

Last year’s competition was Harry Potter with the public vote choosing a large and characterful Hagrid, created by the Mind Charity shop. The best dressed window display was awarded to Maddock Funeral Directors, London Road.

As well as great entertainment and fabulous food and drink, the Festival is hosting several competitions: scarecrow, photography, dog show and art exhibition.

Photography competition

The theme is ‘Out and About in Stockton Heath’. Prizes are for aged 15 and under and 16 and over, plus a prize for the favourite entry in the public vote. The photographs will be displayed on the Festival Field and the winners wil be announced at the Festival Marquee on Sunday 8th July at 4pm.

Festival Dog Show

Back by popular demand (especially for the dogs who kindly bring their owners along!) this anticipated event is a keen contest which is run in aid of the Merseyside Retired Greyhound Trust. Do you think you have the best puppy, a dog with the waggiest tail or best in show, then come along and parade your pooch!

Festival Art Exhibition

Are you a local amateur artist, or do you know someone who is who would like to submit their work? Entries can be mixed media and judges will award first and second and there will be a public vote for the favourite piece to win the Tudor Pole Award.
